I have two computers. Both use the same ISP, the same modem/router. One can connect to a server (laptop) the other cannot (desktop). Running ping and tracert queries on the desktop reveals that there is a serious lag on a hop. When the tracert query is run on both computers simultaneously the desktop tracert request simply times out.
The desktop is a brand new build, with only hardware drivers, windows 7 64 and the third party whose server I am trying to connect to. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers for the NIC.
Why would a network recognize one computer and not the other? How can a computer that is virtually empty have any issues? I have no issues connecting to the website and other servers of the third party nor anywhere else on the internet. There are no antivirus or firewalls installed.
The service provider apparently is not linked to my ISP (different country) nor is it apparently directly linked to the third party whom I am trying to connect to.
Both computers ping fine.
